What Ridgely Needs Now
Now free of debt, the Vivekananda Retreat at Ridgely
is ready for the second phase of its work as an important place of
pilgrimage in the West and a learning facility for Vedantic studies
in an ideal setting, blessed by Swami Vivekananda's presence during
his lifetime.
The resident minister, Pravrajika Gitaprana, conducts
regular classes in Sanskrit, meditation intensives, and kirtan sessions,
and works with voluntary live-in and day staff to welcome retreatants
and to maintain the property with its three beautiful buildings on
85 acres. These dedicated workers provide valuable services, for which
they receive no remuneration.
But those historic buildings, once graced by Swami Vivekananda,
are more than100 years old and in need of constant upkeep and repair,
as is the forested property. This requires the services of professionals
in such areas as contracting, carpentry, and various aspects of heavy
duty landscaping. It is only with the contributions of those who appreciate
what Ridgely stands for and the inspiration that it provides as a
place of pilgrimage year round, that the costs of such basic services
can be met.
In addition, there are a number of important amenities
and services that could foster Ridgely's programs and benefit its
retreatants. This “wish list,” many of which are really
immediate needs, also require urgent funding. Please contact the resident
minister about this list.
If you are in sympathy with the goals and programs
of the Vivekananda Retreat at Ridgely, we not only welcome your pilgrimage
but urge you to participate in ensuring Ridgely's successful growth
in future.
There are several ways in which you can participate
as an active member of Ridgely's future. Please note that all financial
contributions to Ridgely are tax exempt.
1. Give your financial support
of the Ridgely Endowment Fund to ensure its future.
2. Make a financial donation to Ridgely's General Fund to help pay
for its operational expenses.
3. Designate your donation for an item on the “Wish List.”
Donate to any of the above and become a member of Ridgely's
family of supporters. Donations in the form of cash, stocks and bonds,
real property, and bequests are all welcome.

Without your help to date, Ridgely could not have paid
off its debt and become a success. But Ridgely still has quite a way
to go before it is self-sufficient. Your continued support is very
important to Ridgely as it helps to spread the universal message of
Vedanta in an even more successful future.
Please contact gitaprana@ridgely.org
before sending items to make sure that what you have is still
needed by the Retreat.
