By Car from the New York Thruway - take the New York Thruway (87) to Exit #19 (Kingston); follow the signs to Highway 209 South. Once on 209 South, go 9 miles to Stone Ridge. Look for a Mobil gas station on the left. Just before the station, turn left onto Leggett Road. Go about 1/4 mile and you will see our sign and entrance on the left side of the road.
From Kennedy Airport - you have two options:
- Take a Grey Line Bus outside any terminal that says Port Authority on it . Important: be sure that the bus goes to Port Authority.
- Take the free airport shuttle (blue, yellow and white bus) which says Port Authority on it. Get off at the subway station, which is in one of the long-term parking lots (at this point it is an above-ground train).
Then either way, you must enter the Port Authority and go to the Trailways (www.trailwaysny.com) bus counter:
- Purchase a ticket to Rosendale, New York. (Bus schedule listed below)
- Note:Please take a bus that arrives in Rosendale before 9:30pm. Find out when the bus reaches Rosendale, and call the Retreat (914/687-4574) to let us know which bus you are taking so we can meet you at the Rosendale bus stop. (There's no bus depot in Rosendale: the bus drops you off in front of Rosendale Hardware.)
From La Guardia - from any terminal take the Grey Line bus that goes to the Port Authority in Manhattan (it also goes to Grand Central Station)
Please note: there are several Grey Line buses, so be sure to ask the driver if it goes to the Port Authority.
Follow the directions listed above.
From Newark Airport - go to the Ground Floor Transportation Counter and make a reservation for a bus to the Port Authority. Buses leave Newark Airport every 15-20 minutes. Take the Olympia Trails bus from Newark to the Port Authority in Manhattan (takes approximately 30 minutes, longer during rush hour). Then follow the directions for the Trailways bus to Rosendale.
Note on return trip to Newark - purchase ticket for return trip at the Port Authority, before coming out to Rosendale.
From Manhattan
By bus - take bus to Rosendale from the Port Authority, directions above.
By train - get to Penn Station in Manhattan. Take the train to Rhinecliff. Train schedules below. Call Retreat before boarding train to tell us when to meet the train in Rhinecliff.

Bus Schedule - from the Port Authority, Manhattan
Trailways suggests that you plan on half an hour to 45 minutes before bus departure, especially if you have not already purchased your ticket.

Departure - Gates 60-65. Check at sales counter to verify gate number. Purchase your ticket before going to the gate.
All buses to Rosendale take 1 hour and 48 minutes.
Most return buses take 1 hour and 53 minutes, but early morning buses (before 8 am) take up to 2 hours and 8 minutes.
